New Canadian VOC Regulations

In 2024, most industrial and automotive maintenance chemicals will need to comply to new VOC regulations. For instance, brake cleaners/parts cleaners must contain no more than 10% VOCs.

Take steps now to adjust practices to ensure that your company complies with the new maximum VOC concentrations by opting for water-based and low-VOC products.

METALWORKER SPOTLIGHT

Scott Arkin
Shop Owner & Lead Fabricator

As a Shop Owner and Lead Fabricator, Scott Arkin depends on proper planning and high quality tools to complete every job. Diz Industries is a custom metal fabrication business made up of a devoted team, providing utmost creativity and passion to every project.

Hard core or hardcore? For Scott Arkin, shop owner, and lead fabricator, it’s both.

He’s committed and devoted to his custom metal fabrication business. The endless possibilities of metalworking have inspired him to fabricate unique projects for engineers, architects, designers, movie sets, and for regular people.

At the age of 19, Scott founded a skate and snowboard shop. It was his way of staying out of trouble and taking charge of his life. It also allowed him to merge his creativity and passion for extreme sports eventually turning his company into a very well-known brand across the USA and Canada.

Scott was thriving but was ready for a new challenge. After 10 successful years at the shop, there was one thing had hadn’t mastered: welding. He signed up for a welding course and was instantly hooked.

To perfect his newly acquired skill, he got a job within the aerospace industry. “You had to be ultra-focused and produce high-quality welds. I was also quite creative coming up with special tools for people to do their jobs safer.” Scott realized he needed another outlet to let his creativity flow through building things. “I’m all over the place, I’m a fast mover and thinker. When I come across a problem, I resolve it and want to immediately move forward.”

His gained experience would certainly pay off as he now had all the skillset to venture out (again!).

He decided to open a metal fabrication shop that would take on the most original and ambitious projects. “It usually starts with an idea or a challenge”. With his out-of-the-ordinary ability to solve problems and his precise welding skills, nothing was off-limits for Scott. “I like problem-solving, coming up with real solutions.” He has built a dedicated, passionate, and hard-working team. “We're very few in numbers but the energy is just there. We do massive projects.” Scott depends on good planning and tools to get the job done. “Time is the one thing I cannot control. I can’t buy time, but I can buy good tools. Having the proper tool for the job saves you tons of time, it just avoids rework.” Nowadays, the shop is a reference in the industry and Scott continues to embody hard core livin’ (and welding!).
